BOWLS ENGLAND DIRECTIVE

Updated: 15th July 2021

From Monday 19th July, Clubs are not required to enforce any COVID restrictions by law. We are recommending, however, that Government guidance on mask wearing indoors is still adhered to by our Clubs, and that all Clubs continue to utilise the NHS COVID app to ensure the spread of the virus is limited.

We are sure that the bowls community will respect people’s personal choices regarding masks, social distancing and their own well-being.

Following the latest Government update, we are working with various stakeholders, including Warwick District Council and Public Health England, to confirm the plans for the Bowls England National Finals and will issue an update next week.

We made a commitment to ensure that we managed the season safely for all participants and we are determined to see that through. We thank you for your continued patience as we navigate this situation.

THE FOLLOWING NOTICE HAS BEEN POSTED ON SCBA WEBSITE

“Somerset Saturday Mens’ League

In March, the SBA issued a statement to the effect that the League would not commence until STEP 4 had been reached. It was expected that this would be June 21st. However, the changing circumstances in COVID 19 now indicate that the likely date will be July 19th. If that is the case then at best, only 5 rounds of matches would be played towards the League, and sensible tables would not be forthcoming. To further compound problems, some clubs have indicated that they have issues in raising teams and therefore cancel matches.

With this in mind, we have decided to abandon the league for this season, but we would encourage clubs to fulfil as many of the fixtures as they are able. We can confirm that any League fees paid for this year will be held over until 2022.”
